Ornamental Grasses (Feather Reed)

Feather Reed Grass
(Calamagrostis acutiflora 'Karl Forester')

Probably responsible for the trend toward the use of ornamental grasses in landscape design is this specimen, Feather Reed Grass.  In addition to being a valuable asset to fresh and dried flower arrangements it can be used as a specimen, a vertical accent or even a landscape screen.  A slight breeze will put the 5′ tall, feathery “blooms” in motion which adds life to any landscape.  Because of its strong vertical growth habit it is more likely to maintain its posture even in heavy rains or snows. Its structure provides wonderful winter textureFeather Reed Grass will tolerate a wide range of soil conditions but will perform best in full sun.  Hardy to Zone 4, this grass should be cut back to 5″ in mid March.  For more information on this exceptional ornamental grass or others please visit www.rdhlandscape.com .
